Have you been searching for the perfect vegan chocolate ice cream recipe? If so, you’ve come to the right place. Ice cream has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, but most ice cream tends to contain a lot of sugar. I was looking for a healthy alternative since becoming whole food plant based vegan, so I decided to experiment.

I had tried making “nice” cream in the past but wasn’t a huge fan of the banana taste. Most simple, vegan ice cream recipes you find will have bananas as the base to give it a nice, creamy texture. This ice cream will have a hint of banana, but it isn’t overbearing when you add the cacao and carob. You can even add chocolate chips if you’re a huge chocolate lover like me and are looking for added texture.

As a busy mom, I wanted a sweet treat that wouldn’t require a lot of time to make or a ton of ingredients. These are ingredients that I have on hand and use frequently for my favorite superfood chocolate shake that you can get for free here along with other recipes. My toddler loves helping me measure and pour all of the ingredients into the food processor. It’s so fun to have your children be a part of the cooking process in the kitchen, and they tend to enjoy eating the finished product when they have a sense of ownership being involved in creating the food.
